Deceptively cold was the weather forecast. Well, not really, but thats what it was. It was one of those first spring days where it actually felt warm and after our 'long' winter', everyone in town was wearing t-shirt and shorts. Out on the south end of Wrightsville Beach, it was a good 10 degrees colder and none of us had dressed for the difference.
Melissa and Parker had their first date out on this stretch of beach where they hung out in a lifeguard stand while getting to know each other. I wish that stand had been there, but then again it was March 20 and that's just too early in the year for lifeguards. I had found a little area of sand fences that worked well as a backdrop in the sun. I was trying to keep us all in the sun.
So we went heavy with the sun that day. For warmth, and for the look of it. I do love sun flare. I usually take couples through the dunes to get some different looks but I knew the temperature would drop just a couple more degrees so we stuck to the outer edge of the little peninsula and took advantage of the horizon line as our background.
With all the images we see on pinterest, I'm constantly looking to improve my shots and I really like the way the ring stands out on the wood post. I could go into all the art talk about the symbolism of the life of a tree and the life of a marriage but lets just look at the pics.
In school, explaining my work was always the most difficult aspect of our projects.
I just wanted to take pretty pictures.
I always have my bag of props along which holds frames, chalkboards, scrabble pieces and anything else I can think of to throw in. Melissa and Parker chose a chalkboard to make a save the date and my handwriting cooperated that day. It's usually a mess since all we really do is type and text.
And it's sunset, time to grab a couple more shots. I love out of focus shots. So romantic.
I knew Melissa and Parker were freezing by now but they were game enough to stop on our way back to the cars. Anyone who's shot with me knows that when I say one more, I usually mean 4 or 5. But I've gotten some great shots that way.
Thank you Melissa and Parker!! We're looking forward to your wedding day!
